I absolutely love wearing Skecher shoes. They are super comfy and my feet love them. I have a pair of white ones that I love, especially in the summer, but they do get dirty pretty quickly, especially if I wear them every day.

Today, I am going to show you how to clean memory foam shoes easily and without too much effort.

Wearing the same runners often means that those runners can get pretty dirty. Here is how I personally clean my memory foam shoes so they look great all the time, and for improved comfort. Keep reading for the best way to wash Skechers memory foam shoes.

1)Brush Off Dirt

The first step is to get rid of any lingering debris on the shoe before I begin the cleaning task. Make sure to get the bottom of the Skechers memory foam shoes, including the Skechers memory foam insoles. You can use a clean dry cloth for this, a shoe brush, or a dry old toothbrush as well. This step simply ensures that your cleaning rag isn’t going to spread loose dirt around the shoe, making the cleaning job more difficult.

2)Wipe With Detergent

The second part of this memory foam footwear cleaning process is to combine cool or warm water with laundry detergent (you can also use castile soap) and dip your clean soft cloth into the solution. You can also use a soft bristle brush with your warm soapy water.

Wipe your shoes with the solution you made, making sure to get the tough spots. Avoid making the top material of the shoe too wet as that could damage the memory foam.

**If you notice that a spot is very tough to clean, add some baking soda to the spot and try to rub it out with a small brush in a circular motion.

Rinse well in warm or cold water.

3)Dry The Shoe

Give your shoe a quick wipe down with a dry towel, and then allow your shoe to air dry naturally. You should take the insole out of the shoe to dry separately. Avoid placing your memory foam shoe in direct sunlight.

How To Deodorize Skechers Memory Foam Shoes

Sometimes smelly shoes are the problem, and mild soap on the outside of the shoe isn’t going to solve the problem. This is especially a problem if you’re using your favorite memory foam shoes like athletic shoes.

For best results, shake a 1/2 cup of baking soda inside the shoe and place shoes into a plastic bag. Leave the shoes overnight or for a couple of hours and you’ll notice that the shoe will start to smell a lot better. Doing this regularly will assist in keeping shoes fresh.

You can also try Skechers odor eliminator spray as per the Skechers website recommendations. But you can still use your favorite deodorizing spray for all pairs of Skechers shoes.

How Often Should You Clean Memory Foam Shoes

You should be washing your memory foam shoes every time you feel they need a good cleaning. There really isn’t a specific amount of time, but if you notice that your casual shoes have a foul smell or excess dirt, it’s time to give them a clean.

At the end of the day, you want to make sure that foot odor from previous outings isn’t going to affect your clean feet or give your fungal infections to worry about.

Do Not Throw Your Memory Foam Shoes Into The Washing Machine

Your favorite memory foam shoes are not machine washable. Even if you place the shoes into a thin pillowcase or laundry bag, the excess water (and excess soap) can hurt the durability of your Skechers footwear. Keep your Skechers memory foam shoes looking their best and avoid tossing them in the laundry for machine washing.

Memory foam is made from various chemicals, including polyurethane. Because of its sensitive nature, it’s best to never machine wash memory foam, and always let it air dry. Plus many of these shoes are Skechers light up shoes with led lights that would be damaged in the wash.

How To Clean Memory Foam Flip Flops

One of the best ways to clean memory foam sandals or flip flops, is to use a combination of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide.

First, mix together equal parts baking soda and peroxide to form a paste. Next, apply the paste to the affected areas of the flip flops and let it sit for several minutes.

Finally, rinse the paste away with warm water and allow the flip flops to air dry. This method effectively removes dirt, grime, and bacteria from memory foam without damaging the material.

How To Care For Your Memory Foam Shoes

Once your shoes are nice and clean, you can use these tips to keep your shoes in great condition.

Waterproof Your Shoes

This is the first thing I do when getting new shoes! Use any waterproofing spray on your memory foam shoes, I use this Skechers water proofer spray.

Store Them Nicely

If you want to keep your shoes in great condition, make sure to store them on a shelf, not in a pile by the front door. Storing your shoes properly will make sure they don’t lose their shape or take on any dirt from other boots and muddy shoes.

Don’t Wear Them In Bad Weather

Memory foam shoes are great for dry sunny days. I would avoid wearing them in heavy rain and snow. Not only will your feet get soaking wet, but they will also be cold as well. Prolonged standing in damp shoes can also hurt your feet.

Additionally, your shoes will get ruined and you may not be able to bring them back to life. On bad weather days, it’s best to keep your Skechers memory foam kicks inside.

Wear Socks

Maybe this is common sense but you should always be wearing socks with your shoes. This can help prevent the spread of fungi, as well as keep your shoes from becoming super smelly really fast.
