Hey there! We all know how hectic life can get with little ones running around, laundry needing to be done, and a never-ending list of chores waiting for us. Sometimes it feels like there just aren’t enough hours in the day to tackle everything on our to-do list.
Today, I’m here to share some quick and easy tips on how you can clean your living room in just 15 minutes. Yes, you heard that right – in just 15 minutes, you can have a sparkling clean(ish) space that will make you feel like a domestic superhero.
You know as moms, we tend to put ourselves down because our home isn’t clean and spotless ALL THE TIME!!!
But, that just isn’t practical. When you have little kids that need tending to, getting dressed in the morning is about as good as it gets!
So let’s dive in and let me share my best tips to help you get the clean living room you want in under 15 minutes!
1. Start By Decluttering (3 mins)
The first step to cleaning your living room quickly is to declutter the space. Grab a laundry basket or a large bin and quickly go around the room picking up any items that don’t belong there – toys, shoes, magazines, etc. Toss them into the basket so you can deal with them later, you are NOT taking them back to where they belong, you are maybe putting them on the stairs so the next person up can take them back to where they belong. Removing clutter will instantly make your space look tidier and more organized.
2. Dust Like a Pro (3 mins)
Next up, grab a microfiber cloth or duster and quickly dust all surfaces in the room – shelves, tables, picture frames, etc. Don’t worry about getting every nook and cranny; just do a quick once-over to remove any visible dust. Focus on high-traffic areas where dust tends to accumulate more quickly.
3. Speed Clean Floors (4 mins)
Now it’s time to tackle the floors. Grab your trusty vacuum cleaner or broom, I like to use a handheld vacuum or my iRobot to give the floors a quick once-over. Focus on visible dirt and debris, you are not deep cleaning your floors right now. If you have hardwood or tile floors, consider using a damp mop for a speedy clean. There is no need to pull out furniture, you are just doing a quick clean in your living room, your not taking your area rug outside to clean it to get the dust out. You are just getting rid of the visible dirt in this area.
4. Freshen up upholstery (1 min)
If your couch or chairs are looking a bit worse for wear, grab a lint roller or vacuum attachment to quickly freshen them up. If you have pets, your furniture will definitely have some pet hair hanging around, so take a minute to run around with the lint roller to remove any of that. IF you’re using a vacuum with an attachment, this will take longer than the 1 minute, a lint roller works great, because it works fast! Remove any pet hair or crumbs that may be lingering on your upholstery for an instant refresh.
5. Finishing Touches (4 mins)
Finally, take a minute to fluff pillows, straighten throw blankets, and adjust any decor items that may be out of place. Light some scented candles or spritz some air freshener for an added touch of freshness.
If you know that you need to spend some more time decluttering or cleaning your floors, than you can do without lighting some candles or spritzing some air fresher. Just doing these 5 things will help you to clean your living room in under 15 minutes per day!
And there you have it – in just 15 minutes, you’ve transformed your living room from chaotic mess to tidy oasis! With these quick and easy tips, cleaning doesn’t have to feel like an overwhelming chore anymore. So next time you’re feeling pressed for time but still want your space to look its best, remember these simple tricks for a speedy cleanup session.
Here’s to more time spent enjoying your beautifully clean living room!
Happy cleaning!
