Spring Clean Room By Room
This year, I’m staying ahead of the chaos with a super realistic cleaning schedule that doesn’t make me want to quit halfway through this project! So, if you’re ready to declutter, freshen up your space, and get every room summer-ready, let’s dive into some no-stress spring cleaning tips that actually work! These are super simple tips to show you how to spring clean room by room…..without losing your mind!
1. Start With One Room at a Time
Don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to clean the whole house at once. Unfortunately I tried that previously, and it did NOT go well, and I didn’t attempt to declutter for another 6 months! When it comes to decluttering, you want to try and do things in small bite sized tasks you can easily handle! Pick one room and focus on finishing it before moving to the next. Baby steps are key!
2. Declutter Before You Do Anything!
It’s impossible to deep clean when there’s stuff everywhere. Here’s what I recommend you do! Walk through each room and remove any trash that you see. Then, start to sort through your things, donate what you don’t need, and then you’ll have space to clean properly. Get rid of old clothes, clothes you no longer wear, broken appliances, and items that no longer make you smile!
3. Create a Weekly Cleaning Schedule
Instead of trying to do everything in one day, I want you to break your cleaning into chunks throughout the week. For example, Monday can be the bedroom, Tuesday the bathroom, and so on. If you know you have very little time to clean, don’t schedule 2 hours of cleaning, because you will feel like a failure before you even start! Again, we’re trying to make things easy on ourselves!

4. Work From Top To Bottom
Always clean high surfaces first, like shelves or ceiling fans, and then move down to floors. It saves you from having to clean twice. If you clean the floor first and then the ceiling, you will have to redo the floors from all the ceiling dust! You always want to make things easy on yourself.
5. Use Multi-Purpose Cleaners
Instead of having lots of different cleaning products, a good multi-purpose cleaner can handle most surfaces and makes the whole process way faster. Make sure to have a multi-purpose cleaner in your cleaning caddy!
6. Set a Timer for Each Room
I absolutely love using timers, I use a timer for everything – timers to remind me to do something at a certain time, or to remind me to drop something off at ups, or to go to the pharmacy. Timers are perfect for cleaning sessions when you don’t have much time! Give yourself a realistic time limit—like 30 minutes per room—to stay on track and avoid burnout. Again, if you don’t have 30 minutes to give, do 15 minutes today, and 15 tomorrow!

7. Rotate Seasonal Items
This is the perfect time to box up heavy winter blankets, coats, and boots for lighter summer gear while you do your spring cleaning. It’s like a closet refresh and cleaning hack all in one. Try using vacuum packed bags to store items like this. Make sure to box away shoes too if you don’t have the room. I like to store these items on a shelf high up in my closet or in the coat closet on a top shelf, so they are well out of the way!
8. Make It Fun
When you are cleaning like this, put on your favorite playlist, or your favorite podcasts. Doing this, will help you to focus on the music and not the task at hand. So, figure out what will help you and do that! .
Now, grab your supplies and let’s spring clean like pros!

Spring Clean: Bedroom
When it comes to spring cleaning your bedroom, the goal is to create a fresh, calming space without spending an entire day feeling like you’re deep-cleaning. Here’s a simple step-by-step cleaning routine to get your bedroom freshed up! Your bedroom is going to look so awesome after you do the following!
Declutter Your Space
Start by clearing out anything that doesn’t belong in your bedroom. Toss dirty laundry into the hamper, return items laying around to their rightful places, and create a donate pile for clothes or items you no longer need. If it hasn’t been used or worn in months, it’s time to let it go. Decluttering first clears the way for actual cleaning and instantly makes your room look better.
Strip the Bed & Refresh Linens
This is a good time to clean all bedding and give it a refresh! Remove all bedding, including sheets, pillowcases, and mattress protectors. Toss them in a heavy duty wash, adding a bit of baking soda to the detergent for extra freshness. While the laundry is running, vacuum the mattress to remove dust and allergens, and flip it.

Dust Every Surface
Grab a microfiber cloth and dust all surfaces, starting with higher areas like shelves, ceiling fans, or light fixtures. Don’t forget to wipe down nightstands, dressers, and window sills. Use a gentle cleaner for any wood furniture to leave it shiny and clean.
Organize Drawers and Closets
Take a moment to tidy up your closet and drawers. Fold or hang items neatly and set aside anything that needs repair or doesn’t fit anymore. For a quick win, focus on one drawer or closet one section at a time to keep it manageable. If your drawers or closet is bulging with excess clothing, take the time to declutter it now!
Clean Windows and Mirrors
Smudged mirrors and dusty windows can make your bedroom feel less clean than it is. Use a streak-free cleaner or a mix of vinegar and water to wipe down mirrors and window glass. Don’t forget to clean the window frames and sills too!
Vacuum or Sweep Thoroughly
Whether you have carpet, hardwood, or a rug, give the floors a thorough cleaning. Move any small furniture to clean underneath, and use the appropriate attachments to get into corners and along baseboards.
After all the hard work, it’s time to breathe life back into your space. Open the windows wide and let the fresh air and sunshine pour in. There’s nothing like the scent of spring to brighten up your mood and home.
For an extra boost of calm, use a gentle room spray or set up an essential oil diffuser with your favorite scent—it’s the finishing touch your room deserves.

Pull It All Back Together
Now that your room is spotless, it’s time to reassemble the magic. Start by making your bed, remember to fluff up the pillows, and drape a cozy throw blanket at the foot. These simple touches create a warm, inviting vibe you’ll love coming back to.
Remember, the key is to take it one step at a time and not overwhelm yourself. Happy spring cleaning!
Now, take a moment to pause and admire your work. Feel the calm settle in as you look around your clean, refreshed bedroom—it’s your little escape from the chaos of everyday life. Now you can see what a little spring cleaning can do for you!
By following this simple routine, you can keep spring cleaning realistic and leave your bedroom feeling like the peaceful retreat you deserve. 🌿
Spring Clean: Living Room
The living room is the hub of relaxation, family hangouts, and movie nights—but it’s also a magnet for clutter, dust, and crumbs. This is usually where you will find the biggest mess! But don’t worry, you can give your living room a good spring clean without taking hours doing it!
Declutter the Room
Start by removing anything that doesn’t belong—think toys, dishes, stray socks, or that pile of mail you’ve been avoiding. Return everything to its proper place.
With the clutter cleared, you’ll instantly feel lighter and ready to clean. Give pillows a quick fluff, fold any blankets laying around, doing this immediately makes the room look better.

Dust From Top to Bottom
Dusting is a game-changer when it comes to freshening up a room. Start high with ceiling fans, light fixtures, and shelves, then work your way down to the coffee tables, side tables, and baseboards.
Use a microfiber cloth to trap dust instead of spreading it around. For electronics, grab a screen-safe cleaner to banish fingerprints and smudges.
Sparkling Windows and Fresh Curtains
Natural light is a living room’s best friend—unless it’s showing off smudgy windows and dusty curtains. Wipe down the windows inside and out to let that sunlight shine.
Wash or vacuum your curtains, depending on the care label, and give the blinds a quick wipe with a damp cloth. You may not think it, but this will make a huge difference to your living room!
Tackle Upholstery and Cushions
Couches and chairs are like magnets for crumbs and pet hair. Vacuum them thoroughly, paying attention to crevices where debris loves to hide.
If your cushions have removable covers, give them a wash. For fixed upholstery, a fabric cleaner or steam cleaner will do the trick. Don’t forget to fluff pillows and rotate cushions for a refreshed look.

Freshen Up the Floors
Shift furniture slightly and vacuum or sweep underneath—yes, even that dusty spot you’ve been ignoring.
Shake out rugs outdoors to release trapped dirt and give them a deep clean if needed. Hardwood, tile, or laminate floors should be swept and mopped to restore their shine.
Organize and Style Shelves
Take a few moments to tidy shelves, books, and décor. Dust each surface, declutter anything that feels out of place, and rearrange items for a more balanced look.
Bonus tip: Swap out seasonal décor to match the fresh spring vibe!
Don’t Forget Air Vents and Light Fixtures
Air vents are sneaky culprits for spreading dust around the room. Use a vacuum attachment or damp cloth to clean them.
While you’re at it, wipe down light fixtures, replace burnt-out bulbs, and watch your living room instantly brighten up.
Add Cozy Finishing Touches
Wrap up your spring clean by placing a vase of fresh flowers, a spring-scented candle, or a decorative bowl on the coffee table. Open the windows to let in that crisp spring air, and bask in the cozy, refreshed atmosphere.
This simple routine helps you stay on track and transforms your living room into a clean, welcoming space you’ll be proud of. Happy spring cleaning! 🌼

Spring Clean: Kitchen
The kitchen works overtime as the heart of the home, and after months of daily wear and tear, it’s ready for some TLC. But don’t worry—you won’t need to spend an entire day scrubbing. This simple, step-by-step routine will help you tackle the mess, leaving your kitchen clean, fresh, and ready for spring meals without the stress.
Declutter and Clear the Surfaces
Start by clearing off countertops, cabinets, and the kitchen table. Remove anything that doesn’t belong, like random mail, gadgets you haven’t used in ages (hello, forgotten bread maker!), and utensils hiding in plain sight.
A clutter-free kitchen instantly feels more open and manageable—and it makes wiping down surfaces much easier.
Give Your Appliances a Good Clean!
This is the perfect time to give your applainces a spring clean as such.
Wipe down the front of your fridge, microwave, oven and your dishwasher. All you need is warm water and dish soap, or a spcific cleaner for your stainless steel dishwasher. Make sure to give them a good wipe, including the sides and the handles.
- Fridge, microwave, oven, and dishwasher: Wipe down the exteriors using warm water and dish soap, or a stainless steel cleaner for that streak-free shine.
- Microwave trick: Heat a bowl of water with lemon slices for 1-2 minutes, then wipe away the loosened grime with ease. This also makes your microwave smell good.
- Oven magic: Apply a baking soda paste to stubborn, baked-on messes. Let it sit, scrub, and rinse clean.
- Fridge cleanout: Toss expired or forgotten foods, then wipe down shelves and drawers to make room for fresh spring groceries.
Wipe Down Your Cabinets
The front and interior of your cabinets and drawers tend to get get very grimey, so make sure to give them a good clean!
Use a damp cloth with a gentle cleaner to wipe down the outside and inside of cabinets. Make sure to declutter as you clean by sorting through utensils, containers, or spices you no longer need, or ones that have gone off! Set a timer to do this.

Deep Clean the Sink and Faucet
This is a good time to give your sink a good deep clean! To do this, you want to sprinkle baking soda in the sink and scrub it off with a sponge. Rinse thoroughly, then fill up your sink with dawn and turn on the garbage disposal to give it a good clean. Make sure to give the fauet a good clean too, Use vinegar and a cloth to remove any water spots.
Wipe Down Countertops
This is the best time to give your countertops a thorough clean! Move everything off your countertops and give each section a good clean. Do this in sections so you can move items from one spot to another! Wipe down countertops with a disinfectant or surface-specific cleaner, paying extra attention to corners and edges where crumbs tend to gather. I like to use this spray, because it leaves behind a delicious smell in your house!
A clean surface makes meal prep so much easier and more enjoyable!
Sweep and Mop the Floors
Allright, now we’re going to give the floor a good clean! Crumbs and debris love hiding in the corners of the kitchen, so give the floor a good sweep or vacuum. For a deeper clean, mop the floor using warm, soapy water or a gentle floor cleaner. Don’t skip the baseboards and corners—those spots trap more dirt than you’d expect!
Freshen Up the Trash Can
The trash can gets forgotten constantly, so now is the time to give it a good clean. Trash cans are often the hidden culprits of lingering odors. Empty your trash can, then take it outside and clean it with soap and water, I like to use dawn soap. Once it has dried, bring it back in and put in a clean bag.
Open The Windows
Open the windows to invite in some crisp, clean spring air. For an added touch of freshness, light a lightly scented candle or use an essential oil diffuser to fill the room with calming scents.

Spring Clean: Small Space, Big Refresh
The bathroom may be small, but it’s one of the most heavily used rooms in your home—and it deserves a good spring clean! No need to feel overwhelmed—this step-by-step routine will help you clean and organize your bathroom so it’s sparkling in no time.
Declutter Everywhere
Before you even start scrubbing, clear off countertops, shelves, and any other surfaces. This is a good time to declutter items that are out of date, or no longer needed, or empty bottles! Check all dates on your medication bottles, check for make up that has gone off, makeup brushes that have no life left in them. Make sure to get rid of any home decor items in the bathroom you no longer like! If you’re not sure what to get rid of here is a list of items to declutter in your bathroom!
- Toss expired products: Check expiration dates on skincare, makeup, and medicines—if it’s expired, it’s got to go.
- Get rid of clutter: Empty bottles, half-used hotel shampoos, broken hair tools—now’s the perfect time to let them go.
- Organize what’s left: Store essentials in drawers, bins, or organizers to keep countertops clean.
Decluttering makes the actual cleaning part much easier and faster!
Scrub the Shower and Bathtub
Now is a good time to deep clean your shower and tub. Spray a powerful cleaner on the walls, doors, and fixtures of your shower and tub. Let it sit for a few minutes to dissolve soap scum and grime. Use a toothbrush to get into hard to reach areas. Make sure to clean your shower head. If your shower head is not running as it should be, tie a grocery bag around the head and let it sit in a mixture of vinegar and water to remove hard water deposits. Let it sit for 1 hour and then rinse thoroughly!
Clean the Sink and Countertops
The bathroom sink is a hotspot for toothpaste splatters, soap residue, and general messes. Give the faucet area a good clean, use a vinegar-soaked cloth to remove water spots and make it shine. If your sink needs something stronger, apply some baking soda around the bowl and give it a good scrubbing. Now that you have moved things off the countertops, it makes it much easier to give that area a good clean with a disinfectant spray!

Clean the Toilet (Yes, It’s Gotta Be Done)
Cleaning the toilet may not be anyone’s favorite task, but it’s essential for a truly clean and fresh bathroom. Start by applying a toilet bowl cleaner and letting it sit for a few minutes to break down stains and grime.
Then, scrub thoroughly with a toilet brush, paying special attention to areas under the rim and inside the bowl. Don’t forget to wipe down the exterior, including the base and handle, as these spots can harbor bacteria.
Clean the Mirror
To bring extra brightness to your bathroom, make sure to shine up mirrors and light fixtures. Start by spraying a glass cleaner or a vinegar-water mix on your mirrors and wiping them down until they’re streak-free and sparkling. Then, grab a damp cloth and wipe down any light fixtures to remove dust and dirt. This simple step will not only brighten the room but also give it that polished, finished look.
Clean The Floors
Bathroom floors endure a lot of foot traffic, so don’t forget to give them a good clean. Begin by sweeping or vacuuming to pick up any loose hair, dust, or debris. Once the surface is cleared, mop the floor using warm, soapy water or a floor-safe cleaner. Pay close attention to corners, edges, and areas around the toilet where dirt and grime tend to accumulate. This extra care will leave your floors spotless and fresh!
Clean Towels & Bathroom Mats
This is also a good time to throw your towels and bathroom mats in the washing machine for a heavy duty wash, doing this gives them a really good wash! Then, take a good hard look at your towels, and see if they need to be replaced!
Empty the Trash Can
Before you finish up spring cleaning your bathroom, make sure to empty your trash, give it a good clean, and put a fresh plastic bag back in.

Spring Clean Closets: Hidden Spaces, Big Impact
Closets are those secret hideaways that can quickly transform into clutter disasters if left unchecked. Whether it’s your entryway closet packed with shoes, your hallway storage full of forgotten linens, or your bedroom wardrobe crammed with clothes you haven’t worn in years, a spring refresh can make these spaces functional and stress-free again. Here’s a practical and manageable routine to tackle any closet without the overwhelm.
Declutter a Section at a Time
Instead of emptying the entire closet and creating chaos, focus on one section at a time. Whether it’s a single shelf, a row of hanging clothes, or a bin on the floor, tackle manageable chunks each day. This keeps you from being overwhelmed and avoids turning your bedroom or hallway into a temporary disaster zone. Small, daily progress adds up quickly and keeps the process stress-free.
Be Hard On Yourself
Now comes the hard part—sorting through each section. For every item, ask yourself if you still use it or love it. Donate clothes that no longer fit, or ones you haven’t worn in a long time! Toss clothes that are past their prime! Don’t keep clothes “just in case”, instead be brutally honest with yourself and make room for clothes you actually wear! Toss or donate old shoes, coats, umbrellas, and accessories that are worn out or unused. Go through linens, and accessories with a sharp eye. Keep only what you need, wear, or adore.
Create three piles: keep, donate, and toss. Be honest with yourself—if it doesn’t serve a purpose or spark joy, it’s time to let it go.
Organize by Category
As you work through each section, organize items into categories to maintain order and ensure everything is easy to find. In entry closets, group coats, shoes, hats, scarves, and gloves together to keep outdoor essentials neatly stored. For hallway closets, separate linens by type—such as sheets, towels, and blankets—to make grabbing what you need quick and simple. In bedroom closets, arrange clothing by type, like shirts, pants, and dresses, or sort them by season for better accessibility. Organizing by category not only streamlines daily routines but also helps maintain a clean, tidy look.

Maximize Space with Storage Solutions
Maximize your closet space by introducing storage solutions as you work through each section. Use bins or baskets to neatly store gloves, scarves, and small accessories in entry closets, keeping them easy to grab when needed. In hallway closets, add shelf dividers or clear containers to stack linens neatly and prevent them from toppling over. For bedroom closets, opt for slim hangers to save space, drawer organizers for small items, and under-the-bed storage for seasonal clothing. If you are really tight on space, try using an over the door organizer. These work great for holding underwear, socks, accessories. These simple storage tools not only help reduce clutter but also ensure everything stays organized and within easy reach.
Move Seasonal Clothing
Once you’ve decluttered and cleaned a section, consider rotating seasonal items. Move winter coats, boots, and heavy clothing to the back or upper shelves, and bring spring and summer items to the front. For hallway closets, swap out thick blankets for lighter throws.

Label Everything
As you organize each section, add labels to bins, baskets, and boxes for easy access. Labels are especially helpful in shared closets like entry or hallway spaces where multiple family members need to find items quickly. This small step prevents future messes and keeps everything organized.
Put Everything Back In Order
Once a section is decluttered, cleaned, and organized, return the “keep” items to their designated spots. Avoid overfilling any area—closets stay neat and functional when they aren’t crammed full. Continue working through the remaining sections each day until the entire closet is refreshed.
Finish With This
As you finish decluttering and organizing each section, add small touches to keep the space fresh and inviting. Place cedar blocks or lavender sachets to maintain a clean, pleasant scent while repelling pests. Use odor absorbers to eliminate any lingering musty smells and keep the air fresh. These simple finishing touches will leave your closet feeling not just clean but beautifully organized and welcoming.
A Manageable Spring Cleaning Routine for Every Home
Spring cleaning your home doesn’t have to feel overwhelming or take up an entire weekend. By breaking it down into manageable steps, tackling one space at a time, and using smart organization strategies, you can refresh every room without the stress. Whether you’re deep cleaning the kitchen, decluttering closets, or freshening up the bathroom, small, consistent efforts add up to a home that feels lighter, cleaner, and more inviting. Remember, the key to maintaining a tidy space is making simple habits part of your routine. So open the windows, let in the fresh air, and enjoy the satisfaction of a beautifully refreshed home this spring!
