This Easy Trick Is How To Get Eyeliner Out Of Carpet

If you have ever gottten eyeliner smudged into your carpet, this is the easy way to get the eyeliner off while maintaining an intact and perfect looking carpet.

Eyeliner isn’t always the easiest piece of makeup to remove from fabrics, and on the carpet, it can be a bit of a nightmare.

We’ve all been there with these makeup mishaps. Dropping the eyeliner while doing make-up and trying to get the children to settle down is a common occurrence in my house. A dropped eyeliner pen and lots of stomping feet equal eyeliner stains in the freshly cleaned carpet.

UGH.

But I don’t worry about such things because I know just the steps to take to get my carpet looking fresh and clean once more.

Here is an easy trick on how to get eyeliner out of the carpet, and an additional trick just in case the first one doesn’t work for you for whatever reason.

How To Get Eyeliner Out Of Carpet

The most important thing about cleaning eyeliner from carpet is to remember to tackle the eyeliner stain as soon as it happens. Also, you might have to try a few different methods before you find one that works because not all carpets and eyeliner pens are the same.

Always remember to test a discreet area before trying any cleaning solutions to ensure you will not cause damage or discoloration to the carpet.

This is my favourite trick to getting stains out of the carpet and the secret ingredient is…SHAVING CREAM!

Here are the materials needed:

First, you will need to add some shaving cream to your clean cloth. It is best if your cloth is white, but it doesn’t have to be. Massage the shaving cream into the eyeliner stain using circular motions. Rinse your cloth with warm water and then blot the stained area. Keep adding shaving cream and dabbing it off with water until the stain disappears. It can take up to 3 cycles of shaving cream and water treatment to get the stain out.

That’s it! So easy, and almost everyone has shaving cream at home.

If you happen to not have shaving cream at home here are some alternative methods you can try.

Makeup Remover

Try makeup remover first because it is particularly designed to remove makeup. You can use makeup remover wipes or a clean, white cloth soaked in liquid makeup remover. Dab at the stain rather than rubbing, since this may spread the stain. Use a second, dry towel to absorb the liquid that has been absorbed by the carpet. Repeat the process until at least some of the stain is lifted onto the dry cloth.

Baby Wipes

Models routinely remove their eye makeup using baby wipes since they remove eyeliner so nicely. To remove eyeliner stains from your carpet, try blotting them with baby wipes.

Ammonia

Combine 1/2 cup warm water and 1 tablespoon ammonia in a mixing bowl. To remove the eyeliner, dab this cleaner onto and then off the carpet. Repeat until the stain is gone or the carpet is no longer lifting out of the stain.

White Vinegar

Distilled white vinegar is somewhat acidic and effective in removing a wide range of stains. Pour 1 teaspoon of white vinegar into 1 cup of warm water to remove stubborn eyeliner from your carpet. To remove the eyeliner, dab the mixture into the carpet with a wet towel and wipe it out.

Dry-Cleaning Solvent

If everything else fails, try a dry-cleaning solvent. If permitted to permeate the carpet, these solvents can be hazardous to the backing, so use them with caution. Rather of pouring the solvent directly over the stain, put the solution into a cloth and dab it onto the carpet gently. Press a clean, dry cloth into the carpet once more to remove the solvent and stain.

More Carpet Cleaning Tips For You

When cleaning your carpet you have to be careful to work with the carpet in order to not ruin it. Here are some more carpet cleaning tips for you.

  • White towels are best to use when cleaning carpet as colour from a colourful cloth could potentially transfer into the carpet.
  • Do not apply the cleaning solution directly to the carpet. Apply it to a cloth first, then blot.
  • Cold water could cause stains to settle, so use hot or warm water when treating a stain.
  • Use a cotton swab to clean deep into looped carpet fibres.
  • Always blot the carpet as rubbing can cause the stain to spread.

If you happen to not have any dish soap or shaving cream at home, try blotting the stain with baby wipes, or even using the dabbing procedure with makeup remover.

Conclusion

Accidents happen, especially when it comes to makeup since we use it on a daily basis. My advice is, if you are going to be doing your makeup near the carpet, lay down a towel to help prevent the eyeliner from smudging into the carpet. Otherwise, don’t sweat it! It can be easy enough to get the stain out of the carpet using my simple methods with common ingredients.
