Best Glass Cleaners That Are Eco Friendly
Method Glass Cleaner – The BEST Eco-Friendly Glass Cleaner
This soft and gently fragrant glass cleaner is effective and eco-friendly.
The entire Method brand was created by 2 roommates who were passionate about creating eco-friendly cleaning products. They turned to plant-based solvents and surfactants that work just like conventional cleaners.
This cleaner does come in a mint or a fragrance-free option for those sensitive to scent. The mint is lovely, I love how it covers the scent of dinner when I’ve finished cleaning up the kitchen in the evenings, because YES I’ve used the GLASS cleaner to wipe down my kitchen counters!

Better Life Natural Streak Free Glass Cleaner – Best cleaner with least ingredients
The Better Life Glass Cleaner a great performing product and I’m super happy to recommend it to you. There are no phosphates, no 1,4 dioxanes, its fragrance and cruelty-free and none of the ingredients are cancer-causing.
The only reason this isn’t the top recommendation is the Methylisothiazolinone ingredient which can be toxic. I hope this will be phased out soon.

The attitude cleaner is an excellent choice for cleaning your windows and mirrors. It leaves a streak free shine and you don’t need a lot of product to make your home clean.
Attitude is a Canadian based company (yay!) that wanted to make all-natural and safe products for families, and they were successful.

I’m sure you’ve heard of seventh generation as a brand. They do offer many eco-friendly cleaning products. I like the glass cleaner and the fact that I can purchase it at the supermarket is super convenient.
While the cleaner works really well and is certainly a better alternative to some of the other cleaners to choose from on the shelf, however, it does use the ingredient isothiazolinonesis which is more toxic and harmful than you may realize.
While it is still a great eco-friendly cleaner, it can irritate the skin.

Things To Keep In Mind When Choosing An Eco-Friendly Glass Cleaner
When choosing an eco-friendly glass cleaner, there are some things you should look for, specifically in the ingredients.
Glass cleaners work by being acidic, by acting as a solvent or by being a surfactant. An acidic glass cleaner uses Vinegar as the main cleaning ingredient. If you were to make your own glass cleaner at home, you will probably make an acidic cleaner. A solvent glass cleaner uses alcohol, such as Method glass cleaner. A surfactant glass cleaner is specifically made to lift dirt and grease and you’ll find this kind of cleaner will have many similar ingredients as a shampoo.
I like alcohol-based glass cleaners myself such as the Method Glass Cleaner.
If you are using a glass cleaner on a mirror that is painted or etched, a neutral PH product is a better choice. Combination products do provide a better and faster clean due to more ingredients that work in different ways.
Some glass cleaners come with extra perks or bonuses which could mean your surfaces can sparkle for a longer period of time and resist new dirt, streaks and grease buildup.
Because contaminated surfaces spread bacteria and viruses which make you ill, it’s a good idea to look for antimicrobial in your ingredients.
Keep in mind that alternative store bought cleaners are almost as effective as Vinegar, but not more effective than bleach. We of course want to avoid bleach products which is why we choose eco-friendly glass cleaners instead.
Why Use Eco-Friendly Products For Cleaning
When cleaning your home, some products can leave behind a residue that comes into contact with your skin, the clothing you wear and the food you prepare. If you are cleaning yourself or using a service, the cleaning products that you use should always contain safe ingredients instead of harmful chemicals. Most over the counter cleaners do contain harmful chemicals which is why it is important to choose the right eco-friendly cleaners to keep your home healthy. Remember, it’s your family that you are protecting from all these toxins which are found in most household cleaners.
Eco-friendly glass cleaner has grown in demand over the years, especially during spring cleaning time, and now there are a number of options available to choose from. Some have higher cleaning power than others but they all offer a chemical-free clean. These natural alternatives can handle the same cleaning jobs as the chemical-based cleaners and they don’t risk causing environmental or health issues.
Glass cleaners that contain chemicals can penetrate your skin which is your largest organ and can quickly absorb the chemicals that can affect the function of your body. Choosing eco-friendly cleaning products protects your skin from these dangerous chemicals.
A lot of eco-friendly cleaners are hypo-allergenic which makes them safe for family members that have allergies. People with allergies should always consider using cleaners that are free from fragrances and dyes to avoid triggering allergic reactions.
Most ec-friendly cleaning products are also not tested on animals, so you clean guilt free.
Last but not least, using eco-friendly cleaners means using ingredients you know and trust.
